NON-VW Based Buggy

No it's a street car.
The only thing I may hit is a squirrel.

Ok I have been off for two weeks but I come back with a lot of pictures.

I am not gonna tell you what it is just yet.



First taking some measurements.



Then I took this cut off bumper tube.


Put it on the tube notcher.


Nice fish-mouth.



Spot welded.
Any idea?


Now I took some tubes bolt and a caster wheel.



Start welding.



1/2 " square ratchet adapter.



Almost finished.



Here you go: spare tire holder.

And...



Lug nut wrench.

Sorry for the lack of updates.
The last couple of month I focused on getting the car started again.
That means redo the fuel system, coolant lines to the back, and water to air intercooler system.


Bosh 044 fuel pump, big filters and AN8 braided lines.


The mounting straps for the 12 gallons aluminum fuel tank and the fuel pump wiring underneath the tank. (notice the cooling Jug for the beer)


I actually use the cooler as an ice chest for the water to air intercooler.


I also received my new turbo: Forced performance DSM 82 HTA.
Should be good for around 700hp.


With this I ordered this beautifully crafted JMF drag manifold.
This thing is a beast.

It will be registered as Buggy replica.


I was getting bored with wiring so I decided to build the member brace.

The front subframe on DSM is prone to crack when removing some of the engine bay OE bracing.

I decided to build this brace because I remove quiet a lot of material up front.

I used part of the existing braces for mounting points but my brace connects the A arms mounting points.



I used square tubes but skinned them to avoid flexing.


I love my flaring dies.


All tack welded.

THE WINTER BREAK IS OVER...

This week end was the first warm week end of the year.
I decided to put the Buggy back on its wheel and push it back outside.




I am done with all the plumbing underneath the car and everything except the intake manifold and the wiring harness is hooked-up.




This is what's left of the harness (engine only)



I need to re bundle and put it back in.

After that... start and go for a ride ....

First of, sorry for the lack of updates.
A lot has happened since I last posted here.
I am moving back to Europe (Spain).
You can imagine that i have a lot going on right now.

I did not want to stop the Buggy progress so I brought it to my friend Brian at Dynotech so he can get it going.

It is now wired and ready to start:
