No no, Paul is a cheat. He knew this was going to be fleetline red and realizing Farouk is falling so far behind and actually being abandoned, just took his already running bus and had it sprayed red........

My wide bed Fleetline is patiently waiting some tender loving care. But the ambulance is first priority now.

But Sean loved the red colour of the fire truck, yes, and now he lusts after it. He has pleaded with me to follow him to George in the fire truck
just in case his beloved project catches fire on the way there. The Klapmuts fire department now has a nice service vehicle to follow the superior firetruck

Finally, a few pictures.

The last week before the George show was really a hard week with almost no sleep.
Here are a few work in progress pics.




The first bugger up were the overiders on my rear bumper. I had overiders, but only a German bumper, so I guessed where to drill for the overiders based on a front bumper and what seemed at the time the correct place due to the bumper pressings as well. When fitted, oh dear, I couldn’t open the engine lid. With only one night left, there was no time to close the holes and respray, so I had to re-drill in the correct place.

And now some final 95% completed pictures.









On the early morning before leaving to George, I had a moment to take it out for a spin for the first time to see how it runs. Well, it ran very well for about 20km until I broke down.... So, I had to wait for a tow, not off to a good start. The cause of the break down was a brand new fuel pump that lasted just 20km. Turns out this stupid part is made with plastic internals which simply broke. I scavenged out an ancient original one and got it going again. I still had to rush to finish items off, but around 1:00pm I managed to hit the road in true fashion straight on a nice long distance trip. I was truely feeling most excited about driving this van that hasn't driven in many many years.

The trip up was incredibly hot, but the bus soldiered on. It wasn't performing its best, but we had no time to sit and fine tune, so just pushed through. We got a sudden loss of power outside Robertson which felt like a fuel issue, blockage. We did a quick swap of 2 plug leads to fire out any dirt from the carb and it sorted the problem. The rest of the trip it went well, oh, I did also run out of petrol, because I didn't want to wait in the previous filling station, but other than this, all went well.



The George show was a good day as usual, its just disappointing to see so few ACVW's come up these days. Only 4 busses from CT, WTF, there are so many in Cape Town.

The trip back from the show went well.

GREAT STUFF, nice to see a project going thru all its stages, thanks for posting.

Its only nearly about 2 years later after finishing it, but I decided to get the papers sorted on the single cab.

I luckily had some old 1975 unknown papers, so was able to re-introduce it onto E-natis with 1975 on the papers as well.

I also had a set of the lovely classic style plates made for it too.
