Yes, my Grand dad had a 1988 626 SLI Hatchback and if I recall correctly, the seats were exactly the same...
That said, I like your ideas for the DC. This is going to be a kickass ride when it's done

i had a 1987 mazda 626 SLX Coupe, that is teh 2 door mazda 626 fitted with the 2.0 EGi wow not a very fast car but surely the comfort to drive thatoke is dem lekker, i will love to have one of them again, i will even consider swopping the DC for one of them.

he he he BB you know to much about my CTi and the plans for it. he he he , but no only the DC, but then again that 2 door 626 must be in dem good condition before i will do that

no you do not see them around so much, i know of 1 in newcastle that is standing and the guy do not want to sell, but he also dio not have the $$ to fix it, and the best of all i know what the problem is , it is not a easy fix but it can and have been done before, that is why i like the 1987 model more than the 1985 to 1986 models

so to come back to the DC, progress is slow, got a gearbox from JHB, thanks to Pierre and Gerrit, gearbox came on Monday and then i notice the difrence in the gearselector position between that one and mine, thou both sits on the side, so the hunt was out to get a new gearshaft and gearshaft guide, after a strong day of ahrd looking and searching i got one gear shaft , but allias cant get the guide so i will be modifying it a bit.

my old gearbox, the purple one and the new gearbox, still have to take my gearbox out of the DC, photo of purple gearbox is when i got it back from the gearbox "specialist"

BB, i spend about R6k on the old one to get fiexed and to make it look nice about 3 years ago, now it was not in use till the other day so then i fitted it and it make one hell of kluk kluk noise like a broken CV, and the garrage that did it is just smiling, but the puple box will be send to Bugger in due time as soon as i have the $$ to get it fix

Turned yesterday a bush for the guide mechanism on the gearbox, and it bench test it and it works perfect

started with the rear pasenger door card, this is the old one with a hole a made in for testing
