Re: my 60s look 74 beetle
thanks Chris & 1972 this is the first time i do this iv never even dropped a flat 4 in my life befor. i got help from 2 guyz to help me lift & drop and a guy in the USofA via skype video talking me threw the engine swap. for the deklid i used the lid that was on the car and cut reseshins where the 36dcd cam pully and water pump pulley was going to tuch. then i got a second lid from a bug that was in a backend crash, then welded it on the good one. the radiator sits in the spare wheel compartment i didint cut up the bonnet i made a scoop il take pic later and show you

That looks ace! Just make sure that your flywheel and clutch set-up is done properly! I had a Notch way back then with an Alfa Guilietta(sp?) motor in there. It had moerse 'get up and go' but you could not make launch starts because the guy that did the conversion didnt do a proper job with the adapter plate/clutch etc. And I didnt know then what I know now to have fixed the problems

Vuyo, looks like you have been busy.
Very innovative work you doing there, I am impressed, metalwork, fibreglass, dropping an engine. Is there anything you can't do!
When I saw that Vuyo was putting the golf motor into the Bug I thought, here we go, cutting up a nice bonnet and making a beetle look ugly. But, in fact, a very tidy scoop just below the front bumper channels air to the radiator. If you didn't know it was there you wouldn't even notice it.
