Lol I know man, just needed the pic fix.
Regarding the indicators, you can get the bulbs at any parts store. But I have read that its sometimes hard to see by oncoming cars, as the headlights drowns out the orange. But try it out saw quite afew cars at the mint with the same headlights, and most had indicators on the fenders as well.

Not sure you can get orange globes I may be wrong
When I moved the indicators on Norm (My Westy) I bought lights but could not get the globes so I sprayed the clear globes with flouresent spraypaint, works fine

Can I borrow yours? You seem to speak from experience of a man who knows his nail polish :p

Re: What did you do on your car today?

before the colour bulbs came on the market we use different colour nail polish on our golfs indicators. the citi golf front indicator lenses are the same as the reverse lights of the fox. back then little parts were available, so we improvised.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Nah easily available, my fiesta has orange bulbs, my bug has clear front indicators with orange bulbs, and afew of my buds golfs and toyos have em. So you will find em.
Red nail polish stolen from the seat cover was also a bush mechanic trick I pulled of once. Not a good idea for dsan headlights though, too visible.

those were the dayz when we had far too much time on our hands and could repaint those bulbs every weekend or use them sparingly

all this talk of nailpolish, thought it was an aircooled forum, not an air dried forum
Glad to see some of us did some work on their beetle on the 22nd of June.
will post a pic or two of what we got up to ,after getting some inspiration at the mint, in my beetle thread shortly.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
The '59 has been running like an old whore towards a european football supporters fan bus all week. Lumpy as hell, no power and generally crap. So I head out to get my morning coffee and it's even worse. Arse, need coffee and couldn't be buggered to turn back. Eventually making it nearer to home (with coffee mind), I go over a speedbump and bosh, the little bitch runs better.
Right methinks, this seems like some timing issue. Whip out the disti and replace it with another one (new points/con) and set the timing. So far so good, will only tell tomorrow morning.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
driving a classic car everyday means you need to prepare for the worst. started running like shit, i mean really shit. barely able to get above 30mph, lumpy as hell. anyway headed off to get coffee and it stalled and would not start at all.
check battery: yup but weak
check fuel: yup
check spark: yup
turning but nothing and then after the 3rd attempt, the battery gives up. walk home and grab the merc and head out to midas to get a new battery. head back to get some tools and swap out the battery, replace points/cond and set. make sure plugs are all sweet.
set the timing and bosh, the bitch fires up (this was all done on the side of the road).
get her home and decide to replace plugs, all fuel lines and clean out the carb and set the valves (oh and change the oil, why the hell not at this point?)
this new brasillian carb is pretty rubbish so will take my old 30-pict tomorrow and get carb ace here to rebuild it and get it 100%
oh it's fun driving something this old

Re: What did you do on your car today?
The 1600S started misfiring and didn't want to idle .. also lacked the Normal Performance.
Fitted some New NGK ' s, Points, Condenser.
Redid Timing etc.
Idling smooth, but loud because of the rusty exhaust ..
A lot of Blow-By on the left side Muffler Inlet
Will be on a look out for a new Exhaust and maybe have a look at the Heater boxes as well.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Helped move someone's office today.
Started with taking the Fleetlines seats out, first time I drive her longer than around the block in about 3 months.
Filled with unleaded - much to the shock of the Pompjoggie
Then when he asked, can I check your oil and water? Told him, of course you can. When you find the water, please show me
Had to help him add a can of the best, as she was running a little low, and said pompjoggie was of a vintage much younger than the fleetline. He never did find the water
Then off we go. Yours truly missing a gear here and there. Nothing wrong with FFFF, just me not used to a 35 year old gearbox.
Had a moment when I could, not, get, the, @#$# thing into 3rd gear, but did manage to force it into 1st!
Didn't know a 1600 TP engine could rev that high. Fortunately we had lost quite a bit of speed with the struggling to get 3rd gear, so no damage was done. Except to my passenger's life expectancy when the bus revved like a prop engine plane on takeoff
Did the +- 20km's to collection point no problem. Loaded a desk, bookshelf, floor fan, couple of boxes, office chair and two filing cabinets and if there was anything else the fleetline could have taken more. I expected it had some space, but that was amazing.
After getting a little more used to the bus, the trip back was actually quite nice. Bus felt like it could cruise all day. Got it up to 90 on one stretch. Do not want to go any faster to be honest. Figured out with this drive that the bus does not actually wander, there is just a lot of steering play, and she needs new rear shocks. Loved taking her for a spin. Noticed all the rust, will need new window frames, possibly front doors, fresh air box overhead (if thats what you call it?) But a good day out
Happiness is: When all your ACVW's pull to the same side when braking hard - left in my case

Re: What did you do on your car today?
stripped the speedo and cleaned it all up and replaced all the coloured cells, now looks fantastic. Took out the lucas plugs and put in new NGK ones. Car still runs like crap, no power. The old plugs were black, so that indicates it's running rich but these Brosol carbs aren't easy to work out the best mixture setting.
Had enough of it now so will wait for my rebuilt solex to be ready.
love bugs sometimes, hate the fact there is so little support for them down here in durbs

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Got the carb setup by Carb Ace down in Durbs. What a difference, this little bitch is purring now.
Got her home and took out the old handbrake kit and put in the new one from CIP1, also adjusted rears whilst I was there. Checked the gearbox oil and it needed 2 bottles, so that made a difference to the cabin noise.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Took out Petrus' sound system (Big Bear, the S is realy pining for some new sound
) in preperation of new toys.
Will fit Rockford Fosgate Prime splits, amps and sub. Pictures to follow.
At least I can't complain of having nothing to do.
Petrus got all pissed off at this and started to run unevenly. Will replace plug wires tomorrow. Found some Bougicords at Midas.
