Hi Haans, I didn’t buy my quick shift from Volkspares, but I would think that its something that they will definitely have...if they have stock is a different question.

Now you need higher profiles at the rear to give it an old school flavour with a slight nose down stance
It would look the part, but I have set my mind to try and keep it looking stock with some "under the hood" improvements...basically a resto mod of sorts.
The problem with these kind of cars are that you basically need a few of them to satisfy all the "different itches"

Sorry Riaan,......is the quick shift similar to that sold by Volkspares?
You seem to be happy with it,,....that's why I'm asking

Nothing to be sorry for

, sorry that I didn’t answer your question.
The one I got may have been an Empi product and that would most probably be the same which Volkspares sells.
I have seen that there seems to be ones made of plastic and others of cast aluminium.

Does someone know if this dual master brake cylinder has a residual pressure relief valve built inside?

The brake setup is discs in front and standard drums in the rear.

Riaan,....nice job now.......nice and slow tell. Me what you did to fit discs up front.
How much did the track width change,...what all you had to buy and what did you scrouge from scrap yards,...where did you find the "adaptor" to go back to wide 205 std wheeels
This brake conversion is on the horizon for the ghia!
Appreciated Haans

Get a pressure bleeder. Bleeding by fully depressing the brake pedal runs the risk of causing the master cylinder piston to move into corroded area, possibly leading to leaks. I bought one from Amazon, but I hear that they're also now available locally in South Africa. One could also rig one up with a garden sprayer.

Herman
Thank you Herman
I learned a lot of new things refurbishing the brake calipers etc.
YES, first test drive was I think was this past Monday evening

Brakes was not so great...pedal to the floor
I bled the brakes again...this time I loosened the brake calipers so that the bleeding valve is the highest point of the caliper. MUCH better!!
I am in the process of bedding in the new disc brake pads...but first need to get the wheel alignment adjusted.
It feels GREAT again to drive it...what a PLEASURE

A little paint helps a lot!
The discs are new ATE Golf 1 vented parts.
The brake calipers are 2nd hand ATE Citi Golf calipers (got it at a local scrap yard...Goldwagen or Rui can supply after market copies) that I cleaned up, the placed all the rubbers + seal and teflon strips. The caliper seals & dust covers are new OEM parts. The guide pin rubbers + teflon strips are Meyle (bought it from Mechatechnic, IIRC) Brake hoses & rubber pipes are CEF (local parts store that sourced it from Brake Hose & Component Supplies. Master brake cilinder is a new 19 mm ATE twin circuit part (bought it from VW Heritage).
The spindle hubs + 205 adaptors I bought from Rui (Calooker). The adapters though was significantly reworked.
I have not measured the track width, but I would guestimate that it’s +-25 mm wider (pushed out by) per side. This is something I will address at a later stage.
I had to use some washers between the brake caliper and the spindle mounting plate (also sourced from Rui). The 205 adaptor binded with the calipers outer egde...if that makes sense.
