Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi all, name is Hugh,
I am currently working in the Gulf but have 1500 Buggy in KZN and a project waiting for me when I get back, it's a Puma with a 2L motor which I found in 2006. I have fiddled with AC since we put a 1300 in our 1963 Beetle in 1970 and rolled it on the first run from Bulwer to Maritzburg, only the Beetle and our ego got hurt. There was always a Beetle or Bug in the family until the 80's, wish I had some of them now but we live and learn. I checked the ads for years looking for the Puma as a friend bought one in the 70's but I couldn't afford one at the time so hope to revamp this one in a year or so, will update on progress when I get started.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi Guys and Girls
Joined a couple of hours ago after chatting to a forum member beetlefanatic. Some of my earliest (and fondest) car memories is going to the shops in my gran's sunburst yellow 1600 SP. After that I was hooked. My first car was a Yellow 78 1600 beetle, which my dad bought for me, his first car was a 67 beetle. The car drank more oil than petrol, but ran no matter what, put a recon engine in after a year and she was good as new. We fixed her up further (spray, new rubbers) and my sister drove her for a couple years, was then sold on but is still going strong.
I drove that through varsity. Also owned a fully original white 67 beetle, which I sold about 5 years ago (NEVER should have done that!!), Bought 65 beetle on a whim in 2001,and after much money spent, I just have my 65 beetle left.Black, cream interior, 95% restored but no PAPERS! VINTAGE AIRCOOLED ALL THE WAY.
I prefer an original vintage look, but some of the really well done modified beetles, cal lookers etc are also very nice. Would love a fleetline or samba, anybody want to swop
Have been trying to catch up on the latest forum posts and it seems like a very active community, which is fantastic to see.
Hope to get my 65 licensed and on the road, and meet some of you at a BUG show in Gauteng soon.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hallo!
My name is Marcel. I have a 73 Westy called Patricia and a 72 bakkie, pics to follow. UK based for now, Swansea, want dis mos lekker by die see.
I found this forum from earlybay. So thought I'd pop in and say howzit. Saw a bunch of beetles and a few vans in and around Cape Town on the trip I just have returned from.
Got a bunch of questions about owning a VW in SA, so expect to see me posting a bit.
