Re: 67 Panelvan
On the topic of owner to his own, I would like to hear your opinions on this,
Should I keep this bus as is and "enhance" the rat appearance, by getting decent wheels, some nice shiny bits and lowering,
or should I do a good respray, nice wheels, nice clean look, not restoring still custom but just fresh if you will,
Im pretty much undecided, I have a few ideas for both options, and a few parts and goodies already which can also go on either way,ie safaris.
Hopefully I can start a project page soon,
some pics
Opinions please
Nice seats dont you think, I dont as its welded onto the body !!!

Rear wheel arches are knocked out, that will be fixxxed first!! either way !!

Bikes in a bus, Any one want to buy a Honda Cr80 ?????

Re: 67 Panelvan
I've seen your bus and I liked a lot! I like the ruff but ready part. Advice for me (take or leave)....
1) Get the matt black to look really smart
2) Add some flash wheels
3) Drop slightly but not stupid
4) Finish off the inside cupboards (well Dad finish off)
5) Rip the front seats out and put in something tasteful like buckets and drop in a cool sound system
6) Forget the safari's as you never use and the leak all the time
7) Got cruising with the roof rack on
Use or abuse....I don't care

Re: 67 Panelvan
get some
Delux trim with white beading.
Rostyles (There are some pics on the forum of my chromed rostyles I found, they will look great)
Dropped spindles for the bus (will give it some drop but not major)
Straight axel conversion in the rear.
Have the steering box lifted.
Fit some stock seats.
Then fit a RF sound system nicly hidden away (if you want pics of a hidden system in a bus im sure i have some pics.
Cheacker the roof with white.
Then I dunno what engine you got but a 1776 beetle engine with some nice big carbs to feed the beast.
And you will have one rocking bus!

Re: 67 Panelvan
Sorry Samba still not selling,
I do have beam adjusters from Creative engineering, but thought i'd stick that on the fleetline
Going to get the spindles, 1972 do you have info on raising the steering box,?? Dont worry purist people all the changes made will be 100% restorable, every original part will be kept
The bus is very ruff and ready I like that two, always willing to go off road ,over sidewalks and through bushes without worrying to scrape the sides, so lowering and nice wheels will take that away from me, also painting it, Im gona be scared of scratches, and by then I will have basically a to good looking to be an every day runner bus,
seatcover complains of the bus being to dirty and dusty inside, should I get a new one ???? (seatcover that is!!)
Ive got a set of safari's and some other goodies, Belt line trim will also be a definate, roof rack will probably be restored,
but my biggest fear and worry at the moment is the fact that sambaowner literally lives 5min walk away, but I suppose thats good aswell cause if the bus gets lost that would be the first place to go and look

Re: 67 Panelvan
I have a picture of the mounting (looks like a section of chassis beam) that T2D use to do their steering box lifts. It really is necessary if you want to drop the bus, it's the most sticky-outy-bit in the front and gets hit first and hard, and bus steering boxes are getting very scarce and thus lekka expensive. I'll have a mooch around tomorrow to see if I can find the pic.

Re: 67 Panelvan
Splitz it is pretty easy but not so easy at the same time just to let you know, this mod isnt the easiest thing to undo.
I have a link to a video, that i will be able to email to you where you should be able to download the vid, they take you over everything down to cutting the steering colum and welding it back together.
