Swamp cooler
very primative airconditioner that uses the motion of the car to cool water in the cooler, and also drive a fan which then blows cool air (cooled by the water) into the cabin

Bullshit. It's a JATO unit (JATO = jet assisted take-off).
It helps with those traffic light drags, otherwise the average rat-look car would shed an engine or something on fast pullaway.

works on the same principle to those water bags that the farmers used to hang on their bumpers...
Its an aftermarket item... one maker was called thermador.

All of them are kinda right splitz... except Beetle Power... He does not want one.....
I WANT ONE!!
Only problem is the R3k - R4.5 K price tag for 2nd hand...

Yes , once I got swamp cooler I checked and saw firestone,thermador and coronado,
How do they mount will they fit on a bus??
If yes ,I want one.aswell

I found those a gift from heaven on a HOT summers day. My dad had those too when we went on fishing trips. (Loved the cold water, STILL hate the fishing!)

It is Beetle Power! He works in a body shop, is damn good and restored it in its original Bronze hammerite paint. Also added the new water transfer decals on it. Had a few offers to sell, but luckily he decided to give it to his friend in sunny Cape Town SA. The cooler does not even have a scratch on it, and he just mailed me to advise that he will add a hard to find adapted drip rail bracket that woul allow the door to open freely as well as some touch up paint.
Just saw a restored Thermador cooler on the samba for $800!! WTF?
