I've been keeping this under wraps, and only a very choice few have had the pleasure of even getting to know about it. With the exception of HR, Chris, Variant and myself. I don't believe anyone here has even seen pictures of it.

I would like to take this opportunity, to thank Adriaan (Varient) for his inspection and assistance with this. He took time out of his life to help my dream come true.

And now... drum roll please!

Congratulations Dirk! It's an absolute stunner!! You finally have a fasty :D
I think i may have seen pictures of this car before, if it's the same one that vintagevw in pretoria was looking after, way back in 2007. Enjoy it!
PS-your dad can come and pick up a box addressed to you

Thanks Blitz. Yes, I believe it's the same one.
I'll have to talk nicely to my dad though. He's a bit sick so I don't know when he'll be able to come around to you. :D

No hurry. Whenever he gets a chance...
So i'm guessing that the plans for this car is to keep it as is and not mod it in anyway?

There will be no mods done to this car. She will remain as is. If anything, she'll get a seriously good service and MAYBE a few loving touches here and there.

She will also remain 6 volt, even if I have to make the batteries by hand!

Dirk, I must admit that it is one fo the best stock "finds" that I have seen for a LONG while. It even puts mine to shame! I am actually quite surprised about the color of the chairs and door panels. I would've expected with the exterior color, that the interior would be white! I am not saying that is doesnt "work", I am just taken be surprise. But dont worry, I am very flexible and am sure it will "grow on me", in let's say..............1hour max!?

Yea Dutch.

I saw an add in junk-mail and did the usual : "Please send pictures thing."
They never came so I forgot about and left it at that.
Friday morning I open my mail and there are these pictures.

I have never picked up a phone and dialed faster, in my entire existence.
I made 4 phone calls to 4 different people in less than 10 minutes. Adriaan was one of them, my dad another.

I wanted to discuss the find with my wife on Friday, but she was completely out of it after an 80 hour week. So I left it untill Adriaan could give me feedback.

Last night, after having heard Adriaan's opinion about it, I sat Nicky down and we had a little parley.
I made the final call at about 11h00 this morning, a lot of the decision was based on the fact, that the chances of finding another car of this kind, in this shape, well...

Let me put it this way:

The waiting period on a new Maserati like the one my boss has, is 6 months.
The waiting period on a Fastback like this, is determined by blind, bloody luck!!

Another way of putting it...

My chances of owning a Maserati are far greater than my bosses chances of owning a VW Fastback in this condition.

Enough said!
