Thanks guys,

I am getting really excited now. It has been a lot of hard graft. I have probably spent 80 Hours in assembly/ disassembly/ assembly, cleaning cleaning and cleaning the parts, checking for interferance, making sure everything is spot on. I reckon another 8 - 10 hours will see her running for the first time. I will make a vid of the initial run in.

Now if only I could get started on the chassis

Thats a work of art.
In a 550 , you will need BIG brakes to make that stop :-), should be a hoot to drive, and scare the @#@# out of GTI drivers.

I have a set of disk brakes for all four wheels that i got from Volkspares.

My hope is too scare not only the GTI brigade but the BMW club as well.

These are normal wedgeport heads with 44 X 37.5 Valves. The valve seats are just about touching each other.

Do you guys think I will get close to 200HP with this combo?

My 227-and some engine is about the same except I have a Engle 120 cam. My engine makes 106kW and 211Nm. Power did not quite peak at 5500rpm, but it was flattening out, maybe 110kW at 6500rpm. But then my heads are not quite as fancy, I have 044 heads.

well, I'd be keen to see the dyno graph. 200hp might be a little much for the reef, maybe down at the coast, either way, keep us posted.
Pretty radical cam to be running with 1.25 rockers.

What CR you got going?

I think if you want 200hp out of that rig, you'd need to stick a turbo on. That's 150kW. But believe me, there's nothing wrong with 100kW-110kW in a Beetle. It's a fabulous engine you've built. I would also like to see the dyno curves.

The 2.4 turbo motor going into the Ghia now is supposed to make about 140kW at 4psi boost and 170kW at 7psi, which is why I say if you want to play around at 200hp with a 2.3, you'll need a turbo.

Compression Ratio is at 9.4:1

I don't want to go turbo. I would rather put a FK89 cam with 1.4 rockers in the engine. That would guarantee 200+HP especially if I go with 48mm Throttle bodies and fuel injection as well.

If I get 180HP and up out of this combo it will stay this way.

As can be seen from the engle cam chart. The W130 will work with 1.25 rockers. Lify will be .523" which is right where I want it to be.
