Before & After.......

I though it would be nice for the forum members to post pictures of their cars as before and after completing projects or major work! Please feel free to comment on where it's an improvement or not, what would you have done differently!
This could be a good thread to give people ideas when they purchase a project as I have myself and seen others asking for the forum advice to what's good and what's not!
I'll start with "Mo"
Before
After
Time taken approximately 13 months.

my two cents worth. i think either way wether you kept it as wen u bought it and what it looks like now, both oics look great. however i did notice some uneven body filler on the side of the new paintjob. this could be the fact that its a fairly large flat surface and dificult to pull the body smooth or its the nature of the pearl colour that enhances minor flaws.

Farhaad, I agree...the body work and paint job on Mo is not great in fact it's OK and no better than that. The paint choice did not help either as it does show everything. Also I think the prep was done with a stone! The first time Mo was painted, I refused to accept, it was redone and better but still not good. I then decided that she was going to be used so perfect was not important and this way I wouldn't mind it the kids or Mrs Dutch mark her. It was a choice between getting her back or arguing for months! I couldn't be bother, I just voted with my feet!
That's why BB is being done with totally different people.

Sanding + everything else was done in the garage, only time the green one left the garage was to get get papers to become part of the family,.even spray painting in garage.its got metallic silver underneath the green,my dad did most work on the green one, electrics interior and the rest, i was the one doing the hours on hours of sanding, ended at an 800grit paper, nice and shiny, minus finger flesh
the black one was a quick weekend job, scrape off the camo, give it primer and then just plane matt black all over, quick and easy, taken apart on the friday , re-assembly on sunday, and some welding for a ladder , long gone are those college weekends of bus works and sitting with hangovers,

we all hope for the perfect sprayjob and blowjob. hoping the next one will b better

. just remember the flaws only really show a while after the paint has set. some production paper lines only surfaced way after i got 'ol 66 back. unfortunately payment was also made before i took 'ol 66 home. i suggest if possible asemble bb at the panelshop. this will give u some time for the flaws to surface and could then fix it while still there. in all probability it will require a flat and polish.its always a problem for the person to fix his

after u took posession of your car.

Dutch your bus looks great. On those long panels it will be very difficult to get them perfect as there are some re-enforcement welded on the inside that strech the metal.
My bus will go back to panelshop for cut and polish 8 months after spray as the paint seems to be settled and you can see some of the sanding mark apearing.

Total time from ownership to any work starting, 2 years. Restoration time, 10 weeks from complete strip down to rebuild. Paint isn't up to scratch for me, you live and you learn and i'll never trust anyone who says they are a professional.
