1: SP carbs give less low down torque than a std carb but more performance higher up the rev range
2: they are notoriuos for having warped bases and worn throttle spindles
3: Filter elements are almost impossible to find
4: when badly adjusted they will make you think you fitted a V8
However they are reasonably easy to install
You need: 2 carbs left and right.two air filters. two link rods. center linkage. sp distrubutor (although most late dizzys are quite happy) balance pipe petrol hose t piece.
you need to remove the engine in order to remove your intake manifold.
Install the center link. re install the fan housing
install the manifolds with the balance tube facing the pully end of the engine
install balance tube. install carbs with fuel inlets facing each other dont forget the bakelite spacers under each carb.install links install return springs install fuel hoses and finally that dizzy.
tips get hold of a type 3 manual and static set up the carbs exactly as the manual says it will save a lot of grief

Less torque,....that sounds like it would impact on the climbing ability of my bus?I take it off roads alot, and usually its steep hills or muddy roads.Where I idle up down or through whatever in 1st or 2nd gear.

I did some reading up,turns out that the duel carb set up isnt that good for off road use, info that would have been of more use to me before I bought them!!!!

How much torque will i loose with this set up,..what im asking is will I actually notice the difference? Also, will I definately get a power increase and increased fuel economy?More power to climb hills without slowing down to much?
