Salty crack ? No no I hear you say id radher have a cream cracker and this is how the story starts........
To bake this you need allot of hard to find ingrediants and a verry thick skin to stand the heat from baking it and the abuse from wifes, girlfriends and fellow vw nuts as this takes a long time. And everybody has their own idea of what needs to be in the recipe.
But this is what i have.
Take one 56" beige coloured beetle.
One set of 16" Fuchs rims.
A Empi 5 x 130 disc kit for front and rear.
A set of Albert swan neck mirrors.
A 5" narrowed beam.
Dropped spindles.
A 2.7 type 4 motor.
A decent gearbox and brace kit.
Now for the hard part you have to mix all of this make sure that your budget stays in check and reply to hundreds of pm's of how where and what, and of course why ?
But unlike many other baking experiences you have had in the kitchen if all the ingrediants work well together when you see smoke its a good thing !!!
So this is where i am now, waiting for the wheels and cooling blades to come back from
polish, have to trial fit the beam and sort out some sort of shock setup ,then refit the cooling blades and doghouse remove and keep all the standard bits front suspension, gearbox and std motor and get this badboy driving.
Pics will follow as i progress !!!

... harboring a nasty hangover, I'm not going to mince my words. I think you're nuts and your "recipe" is going to flop. That car is unsurpassed in both fields of originality and stature - it's unequivocal. Any guy on the forum would give his left nut to own such a perfect example of VW heritage and I fear it's going to get ruined up by being "gedrop" and "getuned". This is SO sad. :rantswitch: :argue: :kots:

I'm a little confused on this thread... I haven't seen a picture of the Cream Cracker, so I cannot possibly comment on the originality or stature of the car... Can someone point me in the right direction?

As my teenage daughter would gush: OMG! I see what you mean Gavin.

I have to agree with Gavin here, this car needs to stay original, BUT, like I've always said, it's yours and you can do with it as you please.

If it were mine, I would keep it original (like I am keeping my Notch original) and buy something else to modify and soup up, something that is beyond keeping original, or not original to start off with.

Financially, you will be devalueing the car tremendously as a 56 in original, unrestored condition, daily driver, fetches more money than any modified 56, not matter how much you've spent on it.

But, there's nothing wrong with your plan, I just think you should do it to a 69 or a 72 or something.

I'll give you what you paid and a T14 project car in good condition...

Splitfan,go ahead and do what you feel you want to do.

We always oogle over other people's cars that have been done just like this.None of the changes are ireversable and I think that this car will look stunning.

Ron also did some good changes to his Bus and I think it's an improvement.

To each his own.
