Attended an Old car auction this afternoon. There was a1967 Disk Brake Karmann Ghia. Beautiful car, fully restored and original. (Green with white top) Fetched R90 000-00 with the Vat and commision. (A Lady bought the car) Thought it was a tidy sum. There were 2 beetles as well. A 1960 and 1964. The 1964 got around R45 000-00. Didnt stay for the 1960. Both beetles were also in very good condition.

What surprised me is the money guys paid for Austin heally's. A 1954 model got nearly R400 000-00 and a 1957 over R350 000-00. I think there were also some exporters busy.

A 1966 Ford Cortina fetched over a R100 000-00. Never thought a Ford could get more money than a Ghia.

Was a good experience. Pity I didnt buy anything!!

Where was this? Would love to go and see.
R400K for an Austin. No idea they were that desireable.
Mind you, R45K for a 64 beetle is not bad going either. But, as you said, in VERY good condition.
Interesting thanks.

There were 2 Bentley's of 1957 origin. Both reasonable condition. Both fetched just over R140 000-00 each.

It was Consolidated Auctioneers in Germiston.

Maybe it's just me, but a 1957 Bently at R140K just seems to make more sense than a split bus at the same price?
