This guy has just blown me away. Might take you a while to view it all, but his attention to detail is staggering

Its because the ACVW scene/market is much better over here which allows it, There are so many places to buy all parts from and its affordable,If we backhome did this and ordered all the pieces from over the water it would be way expensive to really build something nice.
Some smaller parts are still expensive like window catches or the rear "volkswagen" script but affordable,
And why do they all close the windows to make it a panelvan , is that a new craze ? Is Panels now the thing to have

Look the part situation isn't like it is in the UK or US, but that doesn't mean they aren't available. I've had zero issues getting all the parts for this '59 project. Calooker has been a worthy resource and where needed, I've had them shipped in from the US and UK.
What I liked about this one is that the car was a basket case, let's face it, how many of us would have walked away from it? The end result is such an amazing van, it is brand new in a sense.

So where does one buy panels from in this country?
I'd like to support the local network of suppliers first, before I go down the US/UK route. Any tips appreciated

That is amazing work that guy is doing. I doubt anyone in SA has ever taken on a bus project like that.
BUT, one point of semantics: that bus is customised, so it is NOT a restoration. It's a rebuild. "Restoration" implies restoring it to what it was originally, not rebuilding it to what you want it to be.
Hats off ti him anyway.

absolutely amazing. Ths owner deserves a medal for there dedication, effort and investment that has obviously been done to this bus!
