Benoni Fire dept had one, It was a rescue first, had hydraulic cutters, rams and jaws on it. After being involved in an accident on the N12, it was changed to a grass fire vehicle. (all the hydraulic stuff was fitted into a SWB 90 Landrover V8)

Had lots of fun with that Unimog. Top speed about 80, more than that an you are looking for trouble. But it could do 80 in reverse... LOL gearbox just worked like that!

Once pulled a MAN fire tender, full of equipment, (we did pump out the water) out of a french drain / soft soil situation. That thing was amazing!! :hangloose:

Well I have a soft spot for a 'Mog, and won't let a nice model of one easily pass. Motivated by this thread, I dug them out today, and put them together for a pic... and then played with them afterwards on the living room carpet making 'broom-broom-broom' noises

My dad's Mog. :hangloose:

Ps. The Red pimped Mog is a fibre glass body, made by guys in Ellisras, they mount it on Buffel chassis. We classify them as junk... :D

I would love a fire truck Mog, but they unfortunately go on auction when they "retire", and the go for big bucks, as companies rebuild them and send them into Africa!

The mold for one of those Fiberglass unimogs is here in Orkney and was made from a real body so parts could interchange

There is some poetry in the conversion of Buffels into unimogs..............................Something abut turning swords into ploughshares or somthin like that
