Utter crap! just the other day it became mandatory to have your plates rivited on, and that costed more to get done, and now this. this is utter nonsense! aluminium plates fade 5x faster, are not sturdy and look kak. Geez which dumb chop thought this up? ag I give up,with the idiocy of people with power. Cool thing is if you have an alu plate, just bend in inwards and obscure a number, cover your disc and vin number, and viola speed demon.

The best thing is the african approach
Step 1: Spend all the budget, arse
Step 2: Hatch up idea to create more budget
Step 3: Creative share purchasing/buddies in manufacturing business
Step 4: Pass new law dictating requirement to replace number plates but only from selective companies
Step 5: Talk about cost benefits, decrease of crime etc etc
Step 6: Take massive dividend from board role of number plate business
Step 7: Visit BMW/Merc
Step 8: Repeat

Went to get plates made for my uncles chev nova yesterday.. was speaking to the dude that makes plates, about the aluminium plates, he says its going to be mandatory pretty soon and has already started in GP, showed me a plate, its quite sturdy, but for get saving it if you bump something as it bends outta shape and the reflective parts peel, its rivited onto the holder, and is going to cost around 5,6 hundred bucks. and nowhere was it SABS stamped ( this plate came of a brand new vehicle)

Who are you kidding? This was well thought out.
How else do you get money from the more privaledged without affecting the dis-advantaged?
Next year there will be another idea... dont you worry.
LEts guess at this one... parking for the world cup soccer... Maybe R200 per vehicle???
Or shuttle busses from the parking areas at R50 per person 1 way.....
Or maybe just another 45% eskom hike....

Or what about this?
From next year April, the goverment is introducing a CO2 tax on all cars sold.
This even though we don't,and won't get the cleaner burning fuel in SA,and if if we could,it would be to expensive to do the modifications on our current cars to not be taxed.

I was waiting for the stealth taxes to be introduced. c##t Brown (as he should be known to everyone in the world) is very good at taxing people with obscure taxes. The "green" tax is anything but green, but allows the coffers to be filled to fight illegitimate wars. The same tactic hasn't gone unnoticed in the halls of power in Pretoria.
