Freak Storm in Midrand, Beetle injury

During a freak storm in Midrand yesterday afternoon, the carport of Heide-Marie (Red-M, mother of Motorheads) was seriously damaged  Her '58 Beetle also suffered some damage with a bent roof and roofrack, as well as a broken rear window. We at ACVWSA are just glad YOU are OK, Heide, and not injured! The Beetle can be fixed, you are in the right circles to get that done

Can anyone please help with a '58 Beetle rear window, and perhaps some roofrack spares?

Now that is a Beetle suffering from depression - feeling that the whole world is resting on its shoulders.......

Good luck with getting it fixed

Sorry to hear HM! Very unfortunate!

Had something similar happen to us a few years back when that hail storm hit out neck of the woods, we lived in a complex, and when it was all over, a few cars were damaged when the car ports came down.

Eina Red-M, my 58 left an extra oil spot on the drive when I showed her the pics. Hope it gets better real soon.

aw ... thanks so much all... you guys are amazing!
Been doing loads of clean up work today ...

Insurance co (Std bank) assessor says they may not want to pay out - but the car port company has been around for 25 years - now to get an engineers certificate from them - before South Africa closes down completely for the season. The car port company helped get the '58 and the Passat out - and aren't objecting to submitting the certificate.
It was a real freak storm - there was about 30 cm of water in the back yard - the line clearly showed up on the plastic covering some one else's neglected oldie - my neighbour who races in Formula GTi had his garage flooded, as well as other areas in the house - this has never happened before that I know of.

I thought I'd sourced a '58 back window - but not so, they didn't have one after all - urgently need a price on one, as well as for cal-look rubbers...
gee, this car has been with me for about 20 years - never had any acciidents with it or anyrhing....
Just very fortunate I was out for a while with the '71 white bug - otherwise they'd both have been damaged.
Hmmmm.... & I was looking forward to a 'backyard holiday' involving sun tanning, arty paint work on some of the cars, and making sure all the cars go - i.e. actually driving them for a change......

Are there any independant engineer assessors out there? I still feel I need more advice....

Hello all
Does anyone know where I can get a 1958 back window?
Its for me "depressed" 1958 Beetle, onto which my car port fell during a frek storm on Sunday -
need to get a price for insurance purposes, they've appointed a body shop, who asked me to help find the glass...
If you have / know of someone who has glass, please call me on 083 455 7684
Thanks so much
