Bugs Life in The UK

Thought I would share this restoration project on this forum. I am currently restoring a 1976 - 1600L in Bamboo yellow beetle which was bought from "Hypercar" in JHB yes going back in time 1979 in fact. The millage at the time was 44,663km’s for a grand total of R2,300. We then relocated to the UK in 1995 with my job and it has been here ever since. It was used for 1 winter in the snow which was not great as you would imagine. It was then parked in a garage (rare thing for Poms). I took it out every now and then for a quick spin. Last year I decided it was time for a face lift as there is a massive aircooled craze here. People can’t believe the condition as most cars here are just "Rust Buckets" due to the salt in winter. There were a couple of surface rust spots mainly but have all gone once the body was chemically dipped in preparation.
