How cool would it be if the original old shapes of the splits made a comeback. The nose on the current combi's just don't do it for me.

Now that would be AYOBA dude....you can by the T2 version from Danbury in UK for over 22k GPB, so around R200k plus, imagine if the splitties come back. You would need to fork out close to R300k......

Yeah I read about something like that. But the price is so high cause of the whole £ $ R dilemma, if you were living and earning pounds, it wouldn't be that harsh, or if VWSA brought back the bus in somewhat its originality, and priced it correctly, probably along the lines of the current model.
I would garantee lotsa the old bus owners, and just about all of us here would try and buy one. Who wouldn't want a T2 with a 21st century make over.

The biggest challenge when designing a retro-T2, will be the nose. For some reason VW have decided to move away from the rear-engined configuration, so you now have a front-engined front-wheel drive platform that you have to use. The closest they got to it so far was the Concept Bus, but it was a stillborn project.

Thats because all new VWs ancestry comes from DKW not VW.

After my gearbox broke for the 9th time today and have been getting more bad service from these guys,I strongly recomend that you DON"T buy one!

I have one of these concept bus's as a scale model on my desk at work...detailed nicely...looks odd though.

Engine needs to go back to the rear.

I saw this lovely bumper sticker on a UK Fleetline that was tastefully restored.

If you want a modern Splitty, buy an SA Fleetline

Guess that there could be some truth in in it, once you get past the oxymoron
