OK, LET ME BEGIN TO SAY THAT I DID NOT TAKE A PIC, AND ONLY SAW IT SPEEDING PAST ME
....at around 09:00 this morning in Heidelberg Road, City Deep, Johannesburg - a gorgeous metallic purple Manx SR (Street Roadster), with full weather kit (roof, windows, doors).
This is only the second time I have seen one in South Africa, the previous one was a non-runner in Klerksdorp.
The SR was an attempt by the Meyers Manx Company to build a buggy so complicated, it cannot be copied easily. Manx SR's are quite rare, and seeing one anywhere still being used, is quite uncommon.
This is what looks like with the doors installed..
...the one I saw this morning was probably a Penta Sebring, sold in SA in the 70's

I have seen one some years ago in a sad condition but cant remeber where
I used to walk pass that damn shop every day to Technicon and always stoped to admire them. They made quite a few and most in the glitter paint that was so poular at the time.
There was also one racing @ Syringa Spa in the early days of off road racing (mianly track racing then)
But then again most of you were not born yet so you wouldnt remember it ha ha
Cheers

I used to walk to Technicon down Vermeulen Street daily from the Aviva Hotel in Beatrix street. I remember the parking area for new cars, Audi and Chevrolette, and the hail storm... and the mess... But I don't remember the shop. Maybe it was further down toward Kerk Plein?

More or less in line with "Staats teater" city side. ( maybe further down )Do you remember the Mazda garage on the coner across the technicon and the church.
Every mazda RX that was in there for a service or adjustment to its mirrors was taken for a test drive down Vermeulen street and so disrupting all classes with that noise.(and there were a lot of RX,s
cheers

BTW that was around 1972- 74
