Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me if any beetles came out with a 5speed gearbox?

Yes, there were a few 5 speed beetles made, but you are counting in single digits worldwide.
In short, NO, they were all 4 speed.

This is a question I've been searching for an answer for for sometime.
If the cars were originslly put out with only the 4speed gearbox, is there a 5speed solution out there for those of us who've been raised driving cars with 5 speeds?
Answers anyone?

The Beetle's fourth grar is already an overdrive, so there's no need for a fifth gear. The five speed conversions that are out there simply offered better spacing between the ratios, not longer legs.

Thanks Fig. The information is much appreciated. Four speed it is then.

Cheers!

I do have 2 sets of ratios longer than a std 4th in a certain box that I fit for longer ratio and bringing the RPM down on croozing
