Hello All,

I am a Gauteng based enthusiast who has always had a love for Karmann Ghia's. I have been actively attempting to find a good solid car for the last 6 months and as things go ended up with 2 this week. A 1958 low light and a 1962. I intend to do an "Old School" frame off restoration on the 58 LHD first. Will keep all posted. Regards. Vintage.

PS: the 1958 KG seem to have an unusual nose - Does anyone have any information on this?

Welcome, and nice car!

That grill was a period accessory, fitted to Karmann Ghias to give the impression of a radiator - it is extremely rare. Stuart Johnson also refers to it in his book on Karmann Ghias, he will be able to give you more info.

The difirence between that and an Alfa grill is that the Alfa grill have a place on the top of the grill where the Alfa logo go.

Thanks for the info guys. Great to see so much activity so late on a Sunday.

The 1958 is a LHD and the 1962 is a RHD. Cheers. Vintage

Benjamin.

The reason i purchased the car it to have something even half as cool as your 66 KG. Your car was my inspiration. Could you please assist with the knowledge you have? Cheers. Ash.

Just sent off email requesting birth certificate for Karmann Ghia from Germany. Cannot wait! Went through the car and she looks remarkably complete. Plan to do full restoration. Low lights have the most fantastic lines ever. Vintage.

Lovely find, I really don't like the nose piece though. Looks like an afterthought. I look forward to seeing the finished resto... now to find my time machine...
