Hi everyone.

iv just become a member and i love the site... thanks to all of you..

I have recently bought a baja.. 71 beetle, and everything has been rebuilt or reconditioned so its in great shape. It has a good ground clearance at the moment because it is riding on massive cooper discoverers... but i want to drive through africa next year and so i want to raise it an extra 15cm..

how do i do this? who is the specialist in CApe town who i should speak to about this? because i imagine i have to make alterations to the front beam, and get new drive axles at the back?

how much should i expect to pay for both front and back?

There is a difficult and an easier route to go for lifting your Baja. Easier (yet still tricky) - put adjusters in your front beam, and raise the rear by adjusting the spring plates. A lot of the procedures involved is explained here http://www.meyersmanx.com/garage/garage_suspend.htm

Personally I would rather go for a 'body lift kit' - basically a spacer between the chassis and the bodyshell, raising the entire body off the ground, giving bigger wheel clearance, as in the pic below. over the next few months, the car is gonna have crazy ground clearance, and alot of off-road accessories... now iv just got to get started..

AND i want to put disc brakes on the front..

How much does that cost????
