Out of Trouble

Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum and this is my first thread......
Firstly, I am must say that before I took on my project I spent a lot of time on this forum....GREAT forum and above all GREAT inspiration.

My project is a little old Beach Buggy I bought moons ago and left it standing in KZN, yep you right RUST got the better of the pan.
Over the next couple of months I will be restoring her back to basics and I will post some pics in due course. For now, I have stripped her completely, the body is gone to the PB for a Fresh coat of colour, whilst that is being done...all I can say now is that alot of grinding is taking place on the pan.

However for some strange reason I have run into some problems...SPARES.
I am looking for the following, if you know where I can get this I will really appreciate it.

1. Pan halves (Can I get them here in SA?) if yes, where?
2. I have a whole lot of engine spares but think it will be best If I go out and buy a Sub assembly. So I need a sub assembly.
I want to turbo charge a 1600 air cooled, is this the right thing to do?

Look forward to your reply's
Once again great forum.

Have to agree with this - so much so I bought the chassis offered by a forum member a few months back - done the same as what Pine did! 8) Was done by the professionals and is really awesome!! Now all I need is a motor, tank, body, pedals and wiring...... :? oh well on I go

Hi hitlersrevenge,

WOW! :o Thanks I will most certainly not let you down - at a quick glance though:
Body, Motor, Seats, Pedals, Windsceen, Rollbar, Lights -b & f.
The chassis has a great set of chrome rims with great tyres, gearbox, steering column and I have got gear lever and handbrake. Been shortened and reworked (the Pine way) by Beetle Bits but some "bits" lost along the way. For now the chassis is snug and safe in my garage :D Busy "working" on what I call 'Ugly Betty' (another bug I bought some years back) which someone really had a go at    . Absolutely enjoying it - stripped and resprayed pan, rear suspension, drive shaft tubes etc. This weekend refit driveshafts, rear bearings etc and slowly (very as funds allow) rebuild and then do the body.
Need to get this finished a my daughter is wanting to learn to drive and I have promised that she can learn on this one before using the wifes car and um well seems she may get license sooner Hehehehe
OK I know!! - where are the pic's - will do this weekend too
Thanks to alll of you for a most WONDERFUL forum with plenty advice, sharing and caring - this is what Lead SA is all about!
