About 5 km from my destination I sence that there is something wrong, next thing I see pieces of black stuff flying up past my left front window.
I stop to investigate and my tyre is Fcuked, totally Poer in sy M..r  .
any how change the tyre and off i go, make the delivery and get back to work this am and ask if my tyre is going the be replaced by the Co,
I am told to get a price for the tyre.
   R 1300 for a 205/40/17 :o
Tell managment what the tyre will cost "Oh no that is way to expensive" is there not a cheaper one :o I tell them that is the price for the same tyre that I have on and I am not willing to put an inferiour tyre on my car, take it or leave it is what I am told.

Sorry to hear that.

My own personal rule has always been no favours for my employers. I serve them for money. End of story.

Using your vehicle for your employer never works - even if there is reimbursement

You always get the bill for damaged windscreens, tyres and body work - then you get a nice tax bill at the end of the year. I only ever used my waterpumper daily - never one of my aircooled -i'd rather give up drinking beer ! (and that aint gonna happen any time soon)

Mellow Yellow,

With a humble heart I reach out to you in the spririt and put my arm around your shoulders...
I encourage you to change your attitude, to one of grattitude, I am sure that you have a lot to be thankful for. Your tyre could have failed while you were driving home anyway, then you would have had no problem to foot the bill. We have the habit (I include myself) of tending to see the bad, but there is good to be found in every situation. It takes a good attitude to see the good. It takes strength and courage to rise above a situation, and I am sure you can do it. And when you do, people will take note of you and things will happen, good things that you did not even expect.

Well said andre, I often go out of my way at my own cost to help my employer out....It may not seem rewarding now but some day it definitely will be. "Serve your earthly masters well"

Well, considering you were on your way home in Johannesburg-South, I don't see why they should pay for your tyre, unless of course you having a petrol card infers they are responsible for the maintenance on your vehicle. Come-now, asking them to pay for the tyre was a bit :TIC: , wasn't it...

(I see Jbug beat me to it...)

Guys I get what you are all trying to get through to me but when you work for a company and all they do is see how much they can squeeze out of you with no real reward ( as i write this I am sitting at work on a Saterday morning helping the co out and there is no chance of any overtime pay) it gets a bit much as this is expected of you not asked will you do it.

Then you get told by management they like to see the extra effort put in the the worker give them a hand and they take the whole arm and shoulder as well. and there is no chance of filling up the car to go on holiday.

I am now doing 3 peoples work and no extrea remuneration forthcoming, all I have been doing these past two months is fixing other peoples Fcuk ups and that pisses me off big time because when people who dont know what the F..k they are doing try be clever I then have to fix it.

So ja I am thankfull that i have a job.

Mello Yellow,

I hear you, and I know what it's like being taken advantage of.
Keep in mind that the boss's deal is to get as much as possible, for as little as possible.

The company I'm at now, is the first one I've ever worked for, that gives as much as it gets.

In return, they have my loyalty. I don't even respond to recruitment agencies anymore.

My honest advice to you, is to put your CV out and see if anyone is interested. If you have any kind of
qualification, and you are willing to work, you are already ahead of the pack. It's even better if you are
in a position where you have a job. Personally, I tend to look for people that are looking for career advancement.
Rather than people that want a job.

If someone comes to me, while having a job, and explains that they are happy where they are, but need to move
in order to advance their career. They are far more likely to get into the second interview.

The second, far more important peace of advice...

Get learning. Enroll for night classes if you have to. Personally I like to do self study, I tend to do better that way.
But the one thing that absolutely jumps out on a CV, is a recent qualification, obtained wile working.

It's difficult, but it pays in more ways than one.

Good Luck.
