Hey guys,

Here's a couple of pics of my 'new' 1600 S, in exactly the same condition since I've bought her on Heritage Day, last weekend.

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

She's had her plugs, points, condensor, oil and all filters changed this morning and she runs much better and even sounds healthier.
For now, she now only needs to get her carb seen to - possibly next Sat morning...she kinda 'chokes' and has a nasty flat spot on acceleration

I'm no petrolhead, but am guessing it's either blocked jets in the carb or a prob with the bougi cords. Mech mentioned to take the carb to Carb World in Honeydew for a service and if it still has the flat spot thereafter then it may be the 'butterflies which sometimes stick'. I reckon I'll head over to Carb World and give it a bash - no harm in a +/-R120 carb 'service' which could ease my problems.

Parcel shelf, and original working Rally radio aside, she even came with her original Owners Manual in both English and Afrikaans

Thanks again for the kind words guys, and hoping to meet many of you at the Aircooled Day in Silverton. :drunks:

Very hot and original S, one of my favourite bugs. Even the emblem looks new, did it come like that or did you have it restored? Seems to be in excelent condition and with manual  that must be the cherry on the cake.
Hope you sort out the flat spot.

Congrats and enjoy driving it.

I have found that it is usually the accelerator pump which is too strong that gives a flat spot on late models. look between the alt and carb at the throttle spindle there is a 8mm bolt holding two plates together on the throttle shaft with a + and _ sign loosen it (dont forget to mark the original spot) and move slightly to the minus side until the flat spot is gone or to the plus but this is very rare

Upgraded to discs on all four corners and then fitted a set of Golf VR6 rims, which came with 195/50/15 Michelin's.
Also fitted an EMPI exhaust - which I'm really enjoying.

She now needs a set of adjusters to lower the front and for me to find someone competant and reliable enough to do the job for me (close to Honeydew/Roodepoort).

I think I'm going to change her tyres as well...prob 195/55/15 for the front and 195/60/15 for the rear.

Thanks Blitzkrieg,

I really can't wait for her to be sitting much closer to the ground.

Proving quite a problem finding someone to do the job tho :( (Somewhere in the Westrand or the North would be within reasonable distance).
