I still need to find the front tinware for my motor, the one that will sit below the fuel tank when installed. I have tried finding out the differences but I have been told it is different between beetles and splits and different between single port and twin port.

I have a 1600 twinport motor, is this front plate specific for a fleetline bus?
Is a twinport the correct motor for a fleetline?

There's no difference between the front engine tin on a Beetle and a split bus. The tin is different between single and twin port (twin port has a cut-out for the oil cooler air outlet; you can cut a SP tin in need). The early type1 engined baywindow buses have a different front tin to the Beetle; it stands a bit higher. You can see how VW simply welded an extra bit on top.

Installed the motor in my fleetline this past weekend and took it for a drive. Check out the video clip.

I was keen to see if the gearbox was still ok as the nose cone had been smashed off and all gearbox mounts were broken obviously from someone hitting it on something underneath, replaced all of those and luckily all is still good. Gears are crisp and no noises at all. All the components will come out again at the end when I do the full rebuild underneath but at least it was some sort of progress compared to just the body work over the past few years. The engine is such a breeze to install compared to the type 4 motor in a baywindow and that removable engine rear panel makes life easy too.

It really was ridiculous to drive it around but I just couldn't resist.

Spent the weekend sanding and spot filling the body for final preparation for the last coat of primer. I will be spraying it this coming weekend. Once that it is done I must start with the water sanding for preparation of the final coat which can hopefully be one within the next month.

This is more or less the colour I am looking for. It will probably be best to keep it an original fleetline colour but I do like the cream colour of those baywindow's quite a lot.

Will also spray it two tone but will follow the v-pattern on the nose, also I suppose not original but keen for it none the less.

The bays look like savanah beige to me nice color.

I took this pic a few years ago when I was trying to get my 1970 Westy on the road, did'nt realize there were so many different types ....

No, it's 2K MS primer.
