Ok so either today or tomorrow I will be painting my spare wheels just waiting for the paint

clean and ready for paint

The drivers side is not so bad just under the battery

It's really cool to see that you still have the heater-vent sliding cover thingies. Almost always they're missing.

They were glued in place when the last owner put the carpets in.
probably that's why they are still there

Yes it does make a big difference
I will be painting it but next year this time
I'm thinking of this colour

but I also dig this colour of the beetle

The black and chrome looks very cool

Two tone doesn't look cool on a '68+ Beetle.

Go with a single colour - you won't regret it.
