Aircooled VW South Africa

Hi Guys

I am the second owner of my 58 Ghia, when I bought it I was told by the first owners son that is was the first one imported into SA
How do I go about confirming this?

The Karmann Ghia was launched in mid 1955; I doubt the first one only arrived here two or three years later.

Perhaps it was the first one Officially imported into SA by VWSA. IIRC, the first few were private imports?

I have, in the past, seen KGs advertised for sale in SA as 56 models. Whether they were in fact 56s I have no idea.
