Relocating a Bus from CT to Jhb

Hi Guys

I recently bought a Kombi in Cape Town and I am planning to fly down there to collect it, and then drive it home to Jhb. As a completely mechanically illiterate person I have the following (potentially stupid  ) question:

Are there any adjustments required to the motor for the increased altitude here in Jhb as compared to the coast? Will the carbs have to be adjusted or something so my baby runs smoothly up here in the thinner air?

Thanks to everyone for not giggling at my ignorance, and especially anyone who can help out with an answer :D

Cheers,

Brad

You may have to reset your idle mixture once the car is at altitude. I have driven my buses many, many times between Joburg and Cape Town and I have never felt a need to adjust the tuning for the altitude difference.

So basically, only fiddle with stuff if I notice a problem in the performance of the bus when we get back to Jhb?

This is what I would have done: On your way back to Jozi, take the N12 which spilts away at Three Sisters, go through Klerksdorp and stop at Impi's place. I'll bet you the carbs will be sorted in half an hour. Might take you another three hours to get the wealth of info the man has ..

My advice would be --- check the vitals before you leave oil, battery, alternator charging, fan belt condition with maybe a spare belt ,tools and the knowledge to replace it.
O and a lot of biltong
