Vehicle Exports to the UK

Not meant to start a HUGE discussion. Just something interesting I read in the October Volksworld:

"In January 2011 VAT goes up to 20%...... Imports will be subjected to the VAT increase too, making the landed price of any VW shipped to the UK more expensive.
This will also apply to 2nd hand parts sold by registered companies". Puts a couple of local happenings into perspective...

That said, I guess this would only affect things in the short term. As soon as the UK market has a severe shortage of stock, we start again.

So if you are selling to the UK, get your stock sold and shipped before year end. If you are looking for a nice bus locally, the next year or two might be your best bet for a while. MY 2c.

If local people are a little sharp, they'd buy whatever they can get their hands on now while there's a slump...before the whole trend rises again. But then again we know what the local attitude is

*Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn*

In the past this topic has caused a lot of controversy, unhappiness - even name calling - on this Forum. I suggest let's leave it there, in the interest of all. If exporters do indeed desperately want South African cars/parts - NOTHING will stop them.
