You might have thought that this Puma at the George Show was just another shell with a roof chop, but it is a very rare factory cabriolet, imported from Brazil in the early 80's. It was very tastefully re-done by Errol Hotz from Cape Town with a 'Speedster' theme, after saving it from a junk yard in Mitchell's Plain

This is a CAR (South Africa) Puma ad of 1980, promoting the imported version.

The only other time I saw a factory Puma cabrio in South Africa, was this one in Vereeniging a few years ago, note the later tail lights and subtle differences. The Cabrio Puma has a unique rear lid with engine vents, different from the sedan

Errol indeed did a good job on the Puma in a short period of time... he is a very talented guy, who just manages to do just about everything himself.

The Puma was actually purchased from our club mechanic Ebrahiem, and not from a scrap yard. He had the Puma, including cabriolet top in his yard for quite a few years until he needed the space. Errol, heard of the Puma for sale, went to look at it, and snapped it up. The rest as they say is history... :D
