Custom Splitty at Volksie Shop

Post by DR WATSON »

While Gerhard was repairing our s/c split at his shop this splitty arrived. It has a mid-mount Toyota MR2 engine end gearbox fitted, and a HUGE sound system to boot :hangloose:

Dr Watson,

Did you get some pics of the engine by any chance?
The van looks in great condition. I know lots of guys get upset when a aircooled vw gets changed into a watercooled, but it is nice to see a van that recieved lots of attention and the custom bits!

Thanks for sharing!

I visited the dude twice with Gerhard while he was busy with it - unbelievable, the amount of work that went into that bus. He started out with a wreck that no one wanted to buy. He even replaced the wide rear hatch with the smaller hatch, that in itself was a huge and brave task. When you open the engine compartment door, you stare at the petrol tank. The engine position has moved forward, I did take pics but I feel that the owner should do a write up about this.
Or Gerhard, perhaps you can ask him if he minds me posting the pics, I don't have his details anymore.
