Re: Split Bus stolen today - Parow - Western Cape
Just make sure the case has been lodged with the police. The Metro police also appear to have a different system which is somehow apparently not linked to SA police.
My girlfriends Merc was stolen over December within 10 minutes outside our house with an alarm and steering lock and we went straight to the Police station. Every time we phoned to check with the help line they had no record of our case we made. Only after about five days did it appear. The Metro police did not know of it either, so we informed them of it to. There are also neighborhood watches in the residential areas. Phone all of them to keep a watch for it.
We had such little faith in the police after the initial case we made we thought the car would not be recovered. A month later we received a call to say the car was recovered. It was used in a cash in transit heist as the getaway car and was found abandoned in Khayelitsha. The most surprising thing of all it was un damaged and they even left our cd case with all our original cd’s in it as well as jewelry, house keys and my toolbox, all still in the car after a month!
Hopefully this bus will be found. I would have never thought a colourful split bus like that would be stolen.

Out of curiosity sake, how would the bus be exported without Police Clarence?

The same way the hordes of cars leaving ZA cross into neighbouring countries...money in the right hands.Hloni wrote:Out of curiosity sake, how would the bus be exported without Police Clarence?
Update? Did the owner go past the docks?

Dock workers hide it into a empty container,Hloni wrote:Out of curiosity sake, how would the bus be exported without Police Clarence?
then when it has cooled down, they swop documents for an other container, by only changing the container #, and lift it onto a ship.
On the other side they remove the car, change container numbers, on documents, and inform shipping guys that they have moved incorrect container, they then send the right container before the customer works out that his documents has been used.
Only one of the ways I have heard of.

Re: Split Bus stolen 2nd June - Parow - Western Cape
Who ever stole this bus is no Idiot
He (Boy or Girl) had hes Eye on this bus for a while as one does not steal a bus this colorfull and just ship it away or sell it on straight away
as he knows this bus would be easily recocnizable
It is someone that wants one and I think even Knows the bus and know with some hours spent on Paint this bus will fetch good prices to then Sell or keep or Export
It is so Freeking frustrating when these F*$&%^&^*(#@chkkers Steal ones beloved Ride
And yes when Caught must be Stoned to be able to feel the pain we feel when our cars are stolen

Re: Split Bus stolen 2nd June - Parow - Western Cape
Its the same as rhino horns, there is a big demand for them. When ever the demand for something is really big, certain types of people dont give a shit how they get it,as long as they have it. There was a hijacking syndicate working my area about 2 years ago. It was run by a white woman,an indian guy and a black guy. The black guy would drive, the indian would go well beyond what was necissary when it came to violence, and has killed 3 people that I know of in my area alone and the white woman took advantage of the whites in the area by getting them to stop for some or other reason and also making the cars dissapear. As far as I know they havent been caught.
Rainbow nation, making crime work since 1994.
The bigger picture is this isnt just blacks,or whites,or colourd or indians, its probably all of them, working together with different roles to play,
I agree,skin the f@ckers!
I am sorry to hear about this, its terrible news, and an eye opener.

Re: Split Bus stolen 2nd June - Parow - Western Cape
Volks, if this bus sees the light of day again, even with new paint, it will be very easy to recognise.
I am aware of certain body repairs that have left a very distinctive trace, but I won't post that here. However, take note of the front wheel arches: they have been flared slightly to make clearance for the big front tyres. That flare can be spotted from a way off. Something to look for on any shiny new 64-67 splits that show up over the next few months.

FOUND ! Re: Split Bus stolen 2nd June - Parow - Western Cape
Just received this SMS from the owner :
"Report back time ! Thanks to Mr Dave Cathlin of the Crank Handle Club, my Kombi was found in running order.
I just want to thank everyone who helped make my Kombi the most wanted Kombi in the country. The SAPS must just sort
out their admin then I can go identify my bus & get it back. Thanks again". (Deon de Waal)
I'm glad he has it back. Thanks to all you ACVWSA forum Volks for your behind-the-scenes efforts
(No other details as yet, but when I'll post as soon as I hear)

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.
