Christn is home.

I got a call this morning, informing me that if I don't pick her up she will be attached to the goods in the shop as the shop is now being foreclosed on.
So I had to rush like a mad man to proove that she does belong to me and then cough up the cash to bring her home.

That was the good news, just to give you an idea of where I'm at right now.

The bad news.
The shop managed to break the one thing I can not find for her... yup, you guessed it, the rear window.
The one damn thing I can not find a replacement for, the will go and break.
So, a good old fashioned GO F!@#$!@#$ your self to that jack @55 Abdul and his cronies.

The ugly.
I now have to seriously consider selling her, with all her parts, because I can not afford to send good money after bad.
If there are any interested parties, considering the restoration of a Notch. Right now is just about the best time to make me an
offer.

If you are interested keep the following in mind:

- No rust, zero, bugger all. You can look at my site : djb.co.za to see the things that have been done.
- Three engines. All turning, two of them guaranteed running.
- Re-conditioned gear box, done buy our fried Bugger.
- New Old Stock front break drums, never been used.
- Re-conditioned rear break drums.
- Carpeting has been done
- Head lineing has been done.
- Seats have been re-covered.

and lots, lots, more.

PM me if interested.

I'm really sorry to hear Dirk, I'm the first to feel the pain of a failed Type 3 project. How about keeping it away for a while, until you have the motivation to work on it again? That was a sweet car!

Thanks Blitz,

But the fact is that I've just run out. This sucks big time, seriously, the will is there.

It's the way that isn't. I simply don't have the resources any more. I honestly don't have another 25k to dump into sorting out the crap these guys caused.

BTW:

To all that are reading. Keep in mind that there are a set of deep dish Porsche rims on her.

Dirk, that really is a pity, as you were really giving it everything.

Why are Type 3's so hard to finish?!

Wish I was in a position to take this off your hands.

There is a happy ending to this story.

For those who don't know, Cristn has a new owner and home, where she will get all the love and attention she deserves.
I'm leaving it up to the new owner to make himself known.

Think Blitz mentioned (in another thread) that he was downgrading to the bad and boring world of waterleakers/ steamsprayers.

So congratulations to Ryan T.

Hi Dirk

Im so glad I got my car out of there when I did... and to top it off, your car was there longer than mine..!

Those 2 are the most unprofessional excuses for businessmen, I ever met. Reminds me of a conversation I had with the young one that I wont bother to even mention. One thing.... are you sure they broke the window... did you see the evidence there of?

Sorry you had to sell her!

Muds

Now that Muds mention this... maybe your rear window was sold and they kept the buyer's old broken one?

No gents, the window is there.

But cracked beyond repair. I know it's her window, because it still has the ACVW sticker in it.
These guys are definitely a bunch of assholes, but other than breaking the window, there was no foul play.

And the speculation regarding who bought it...

No, it wasn't Blitz. Neither was it Ryan T.

Ok, so it was only towed away by HR & R's Aircooled Services...

Dawie, upgrading to the wonderful world of watercooled vws, will probably buy a Jetta 2. I do something like 60kms or more a day and need something a lot lighter and more economical that an aircooled vw. Besides the fact that these cars are super cheap to run and parts are way more plentiful and easier to find, there is a thriving enthusiast scene locally, which admittedly is far more active than us aircooled guys. I've always been influenced by the Euro side of things and damn, you can build an awesome euro look car with minimal sourcing of parts. Don't get me wrong, I still love aircooled cars, but just as a weekend toy. Will probably bounce back with another acvw sometime in the future, but done properly this time around. I know of several die hard fanatics on this forum who roll in watercooleds as their dailies, so just joining the club
