While my mother was at one of her customers the other she spotted this original exhaust in one of his cabinets. The owner was quite adamant it was specifically for a Fleetline. Is this true or was this same silencer used on early Baywindows or German Splits?
It’s interesting to see the different fittings and heat shields attached to this exhaust compared to the aftermarket ones.
That looks more like an original type3 exhaust to me. I agree with Rui; not for a bus.
If it is for a Fleetline, the question is why would it have a single, central tailpipe exit when Fleetline rear valences have two cut-outs like a Beetle?

Well that clears a lot up. That central tailpipe exit didn't even occur to me that it won't line up with the cutouts.
