Aircooled VW South Africa

Hi all,

I am new on here and just bought a 76 South African delivered Kombi microbus but l cannot locate the chassis number. It is not in the usual area in the engine bay. Any help appreciated. Can someone point me in the right direction.

It's on the plate behind the driver's seat. Mid-70s SA-assembled VWs didn't have the VIN stamped on the body. A 76 VIN will look like this: 2*62******.

And how about telling us a bit about who/where, etc you are in the newbies intro thread?
