Can it be done?

Post by TrevorvanZ »

Help me out here please guys.

I drive, and have recently purchased a 74 Bug. I would love to customize my dash as follows.

Purchase a Magura Fuel Gauge (the one that sits in the dash, not in the Speedo).
Purchase an older, more retro looking Speedo since the current one already has a built in gauge and I don't need two gauges telling me how much petrol I have left.
Purchase the appropriate dash grille to fit Magura Fual Guage.

Question: Can this be done? Will the older model Grille fit the space in my 74 model? Will I have complications using the Magura Fuel Gauge that I cant see right now (petrol tank issues etc)? Can I straight out swap my 74 speedo with an older refurbished one without too much hassle or does it get complicated? Basically... am I being stupid or is this a viable customization option?

Any help would be appreciated guys, thanks :D

Yes you can do it

Where the fuel guage willl go is a steel brace that will need to be cut out to fit the mechanical fuel guage and then you need the mechanical float for the tank also
Adapterplates Available for Rotary in Beetle and others aswell
And Special Boxes built for Rotary Conversions and Scubies
