It used to be street legal, then the guy "scrapped" it because it lived at the track, we have the papers. Just be a matter of getting all the wiring working again(think november all the wiring will be stripped out and i'll start fresh, it is a rats nest of wires). Then installing the lights, windscreen, wipers and then the whole police clearance and all that. BUT for racing I wont use lights or windscreen or wipers.

I just just fit in it, two cm wider and i would have problems...

The Lotus 7 principle is probibly one of the legacys of our time and future generations will thank us for.
So simple and so effective, the club racer and experts dream.
I was seriously preparing to build one (LOCOST) when the Covin 911came up and I diverted to a/c--- because that is my first -- but maybe one day when Im big I will own one. For sure a must own on every speed hungry drivers list.
Enjoy the car and dont put it in the wall in the first race
cheers baron

I will have to find you a red Matchbox then, I guess?

(Haven't seen the red ones in SA to date, though)

This one is also on its way - looks like the old SA flag!

The Locost is a bit wider, this Birkin is super tight, once the harness is on you so tightly held in place, not only by the seat but the tunnel and the side of the body as well. But stunning cars.

Will Keep it away from the wall, or try, this car is touchy, i almost spun it in the pit lane in cape town, figured it would have alot less power up here but not really. Though it is still running on half a tank of Aviation gas.

Pine, Please Please find those two, i'm also looking, Both are the right colour(barring the stripes).

Colin chapman was spot on with his thing of if you want to go faster in a straight line then add power, if you want to go faster every where then add lightness.

Good luck Pine finding the 7s in a decent scale model ,I looked for a very long time and then came across a lighter in the form of a 7 for my bar----only found out much later that it was actually a lighter not a toy . and I dont even .
cheers baron

How 'bout a 1:16 scale radio control Caterham with a well-known driver?

I've actually "driven" one of those, raced it even. They had two last year at the one lotus register meeting and we were test driving them on the floor of the kyalami marshals clubhouse. I think they could do with a steering upgrade and more power  but then again, whats new. I've seen like two other models of caterhams around, keep my eye open.
