Ok, my question is...how difficult or easy is it to end up with something that looks like this. This is going to be the next project...

This has now started a c for serious train of thought in my already befuddled AC brain
If I could get the fibre glass shell or get a body chopped as in the photos - what do you do for all the glass that is of different shapes
How easy is it to get this done ???
Are the fibre glass shells still available ??

Maybe when Bug is done - hopefully within 2 more weeks - and the Bus has had her insides all re-upholstered - this could be the next AC project

I suppose for simplisty sake one could just buy a premade Fibreglass Shell as you said...question is , hoe veel ? Secondly though, Alants, you have a point how of a headache is the glass work going to be moving forward...hhhmmm, but regardless, Sara Jane is the next thing...first let me finish Sibongile (356 Speedster) .....hahahhhaa

The Glass fibre shell will set you back around R16K but then you need to hang doors and boot/Bonnet one shit job
Then build the inner panels for the shell and then you get to the outer side and not 5 minute`s worth of sanding to get it right


My opinion alot easier to to chop a steel bug and go from there

The only one not choppable is a S Bug for cheap(Well if you got about R15K to throw towards a mold for a S bug then I can chop it)

All the Bugs I have chopped was post 1965 which means the Front screen has that slight curv in which normal people think it is Flat
I got a Guy that cut the Front screens for me from a STD one so not a Problem the Back window stay the std size the way I chop the bug and the sides are all flat
so that is normal Temperd safety Glass

Sarel Wagners bug I chopped the back window smaller as he was going to get a back window made for his project so you can get details from him to get a back smaller window made if you really want to go that route but I ended up fitting a Oval window roof section in the back
