No. 1 After a while you gonna struggle to put the soft top on
No. 2 Its gonna go all black from the mixture of aluminium and vaseline around the edges where it goes in the slider
No.3 Its gonna get all creased and look shit in about 2 years time
No. 4 Rear window is gonna turn yellow and be rendered useless - co you cannot see where you "wenting from"
No. 5 You gonna get tired of struggling to pull it through the channel no matter how much vaseline you use.
No. 6 If you ever caught in the rain you gonna get just as wet trying to put the top on as driving home without the top. Remember if the buggy is moving in the rain, the rain actually goes over the top of your head and you don't get so wet
No. 7 Its eventually gonna stretch a bit and then be a loose fit and flap about all the time
etc,etc, etc, etc.
Would you like to add some more Ron ?????

Uhmmm...
No. 8 Beamish hard tops are custom fitted to your buggy. They are unique to the specific buggy they were made for. You will never find a hard top that fits as well as the one made for your buggy.
No. 9 Maybe it's different in Durbs, but in CPT, we put our roofs on in the winter and they tend to stay there until summer. It's like the buggy's "winter livery".
No. 10 Keep it, you're not going to get your money's worth, yours looks nice sprayed silver, just find a place to hang it off your garage roof.
There, 10... nice round number. No. 8 is very important though.

Couldn't agree more Ron - my purpose made buggy roof get's hoisted up against the garage roof using puleys and nylon rope
Come winter - reverse Bug into the garage and just drop it into place
In summer I have a Surrey Top to keep the CT sun off my bean !
Don't sell the canopy

funny guys... ha ha. Thanks for looking out for me but im good, honest. For me space is more valuable, already have my mx5's hard top hanging on the wall, and the rest of the garage wall cannot be seen because of my drift cars tyre collection. so the beam rof is sitting in my garden... Fianc'e is highly impressed
Having worked with fibre glass and making molds.. i cant see how this roof would or wouldnt fit any other beamish bug any better or worse. the biggest diference and reason for a mis-fitting roof is the custom Windscreen angles, the roof comes out a mold as does the body... Beamish bugs are the best looking in SA .. but when i took it apart for the total rebuild.. i was amazed / shocked at the poor quality and general build / fit from 'factory'. the amount of shortcuts and macguiver joins i can hardly believe Beamish would go through the trouble of making anything one off on purpose.. more like sommer make it work & each day is a new lol... so excuse me if i laugh at the idea of custom made to fit beamish buggy roofs.. rofl
As for my current 'one off custom roof'... I designed and had made up a soft top that...
1. uses 2x wingnuts to secure in about 30sec's
2. has straps at the rear that keep it toight like a sund dried tiger skin!
3. has no rear window ( for what ? )
4. fits behind the seats when not in use
5. made from the highest grade material i could find ( used on current BMW soft tops ).. non fade, non crease and waterproof nogal ( yes it cost an arm and a leg )
7. my buggy is a toy .. not my everyday.. so it only comes out to play in the sun, the soft top is incase we get caught in rain for some reason or even just to hide from the sun

Beamish had to modify one of their "standard" roofs for my Bug which looks Beamish but isn't
Roof had to be slightly longer (+/- 150mm) and splayed as the rear of my Bug was +/- 75mm wider than a Beamish - don't ask who made the body - I have no idea
Beamish charged me R6k to modify, paint and fit the roof with 4 quick release fittings

Whatever... but what Beamish do is they make the outer shell, right, and then they fit it to the buggy, so it sits about right (quality assurance 101) and then they fibreglass the sills in so it fits for the screen angle and any other off-sets there is sure to be.
What did Pine say? Advice is the past fished out of a dumpster, washed clean of the dirty bits and offered up as experience, or something like that... Do with it what you will.
I tried to fit my old roof onto a mate's buggy, like I said, been there done that, we nearly broke it to get it on. It cracks and creaks, one day it's going to let go... so you are selling something to someone else that doesn't work...

Driftz, any chance of posting a pic of the new soft top? Sorry, not interested in the hard top as I already have one, but interested in your version of the soft top, as it sounds a lot like the Sombrero tops made in the US.
