Nice pics Fig... looks like the 1964 Kabriolet that was sold in Somerset West last year or 2010 for R80K. I agree with you Fig... its missing its vented Kabriolet deck lid for cooling .

Sounds like the same one. The registration had 1964 in the number, but it looks more like a 63 to me. The young couple driving it said they are looking for a split bus. Maybe I should have offered a trade ...

Very few in SA. All Beetle cabriolets were full imports. In Germany a cab cost double the price of the Beetle sedan. Fully imported cars attracted a 100% import duty in SA in those days, so a dealer imported Beetle cabriolet in SA would have cost more than four times the price of a locally assembled Beetle sedan.
