Do a Search Baron. It's here somewhere...

This topic was covered recently. :)

Buy a pan with papers!

Unless it's something special, the hassle involved in licensing a car without papers is not really worth it.

Hi Baron
This is a good ref. for vin nr. it gives you the year of manufacture: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/inf ... dating.php
Early beetles had the Vin stamped on the chassis tunnel under the rear seat. If I understand it corectly, later beetles only had a plate behind the spare wheel. Not sure what year it changed. Will you need to shorten the pan for your car?
I think a good source of information would be someone like Beamish Buggies in Cape Town as they manufacture their own buggies and goes through a similar process. http://www.beachbuggy.co.za/
How far are you with the project?
