One of those 'why didn't I think of it first?' things... Not too sure if the comments of the guy who posted this pic will go down easily on this forum though, but as always: desperate times call for desperate measures!

I had tried everything, heat, 3 arm pullers, hammering, ect to get a stuck drum off. The idea for this tool came to me in a dream. Made it the next day, took all of 20 minutes to build and it popped the drum off 1st try like nothing. Just goes to show you 14" bus rims are good for something.

That's ingenious!

I came across a Beetle wheel the other day where the rim had practically welded itself to the drum from the heat...the guy managed to get the outer section of the drum off, and they're now joined for Life.

Years ago I had a front wheel bearing seize on me in Corlett drive. I jacked the wheel up in a parking place, removed the dust cap and scraped all the chunks of metal out that I could, which allowed the wheel to turn again; then smooshed in as much new grease as I could and drove it directly to Van den Brink.

He had made a puller like that out of two scrap rims. It made short work of the inner race that had welded itself to the stub axle. A bit of dressing with a file and new bearings and we were good to go.

So that puller was around in SA long before that guy made one.
