Cash raised went to the Starlight foundation.

I know, it does not appear that the nuts and bolts have been tighten but still an impressive feat.

So what was the total time for the new record? I can't see the video.

IIRC, in the early 1980s the record stood at 1min45sec for two men to drive a Beetle a short distance, pull the engine out and carry it a short way, then replace it and drive the car back to its starting point. To do that I guess everything can only be finger tight, but impressive nonetheless.

Amazing!

Somehow I can't see anyone trying to establish an engine removal contest using a Golf ...

My own record stands at 7 minutes some seconds We did tighten all the bolts and the driver went home with the car not having to do anything. To do all this in one minute Wow

Werner Alker and Johan Stander did it in 9min 11 sec more than a decade ago. All the bolts were tight and unlike this one the engine lid was on too.Just a normal beetle and two men doing what they know best. Guess there are many ways to make it count as a record. Amazing for sure, but I dare them to get anywhere near that time if I pull in with my Beetle. :)

Thats just bull :bn:

The engine bolts were loose at the beginning and never tightened at the end.

Hi I Agree with HR...

Thats total bullshit. None of the wiring is connected, none of the pipework and fuel lines, and every bolt was pre-loosened before starting. The breast plate is also fitted back without being tightened again

Also Im not sure the beetle was started and driven of the ramps... looks more like it was rolled down in 1st gear with the ignition on... ala like a kick start.

This was our first attempt.
Rules goes like this though
Car must be started to prove it runs
the tools (no power) must be 12feet from the car
team is only two people
lift car remove engine move engine 12 feet
take engine back to car
install connect up
start to prove and drive car
no ramps allowed
all connections to be checked afterwards to prove engine was tight
All i can say is that with reality TV anything goes
