There are a few VW Lovers here that do the Parts Thing as a hobby.

They will get parts for you via their contacts, and will not charge you import most of the time.

Try guys like Bugger, Calooker, Impi, to name a few.

This will save you time and money

Good luck

Herman

Don't worry when you see them ask for your drivers licence. Its just a security measure.

Make a list of all the parts you need and bring in as bigger parcel as possible. It cuts the freight charges.

I found that the UK based suppliers work out cheaper. Was lucky enough to pick up my whole order when in the UK last week. I havn't fitted all the rubbers as yet...but the door seals etc fit 100% .
http://www.vwheritage.com and http://www.justcampers.com . Majority of the seals were from vwheritage.

Deon, that is interesting. I brought Justkamper (GB) parts in from Busdepot in the US and that worked out cheaper for me. I found the shipping cost from England to be very expensive.

I didn't have the shipping costs or import taxes :) I didn't compare total costs - only item by item. SO fair point if the shipping is more expensive from the UK

Anyone have an idea of how the import taxes / customs duties are supposed to work? I get no feedback from SARS
