Whispers from The DarkSide 11 : TieFighter PG18!!h
Due to post sheading in the Seatcovers section I have to start this project again... Thanks oh Clueless leader...
Ok so maybe I was a bit harsh. So allow me to tell the story of TheDarkSide...

long long long time ago I went shopping for my 1st car. I find my way to Berchmores in Jhb with R6000 looking for that something.. After trudging past all the GTi's, BMW's hondas I make my way to desperation ally. Sub 10k skid row, last stop befor the scrapyard.. Halfway down I find a GunMetalGrey Bug with red pinstripping, ok interior, XR3 seats, dove grey interiour, crome sprint star rims and a nice baja kit, which needed attention and it was in my price range.. Negociate with the salesman and endup paying R5500 for JZB124T.. Jezeble.. Jezzy for short. Being late for a sales meeting I left the car behind to be fetched in a few hours when all the paper work had been completed. 4hours later I return to see a sexy blond taking my new baby for a test drive!!! WTF?? She switches off and gets out, very unhappy to find out that this little bug was already sold... I go inside get the paperwork, climb in, turn the key, engine cranks and ...... nothing... WTF it was just running... I call my brother in-law to come give me a tow cause my New car is broken!!! Little did he know that in the next 3yrs more milage would be put on the bug while being towed by him than under its own power... And so began my relationship with Jezeble.. After 2mnths I sent her in for a full make over. Bumper to bumper. Colour changed to Graphite Grey with a silver speckle, split rear window, extensive work to make the baja kit fit beautifully and a set of Eagle star rims. From the rear it looked like this..
Ok back then I had a silver engine cage which sold the look better, but so TheDarkSide was mutated... In 1993 It won best Baja on show at Kyalami.. From there is was a downward spiral eating its way threw 7engines, 3 gearboxs and finally itself. But along the way to its self destruction it would reach out to other acvws it met and empart a small part of its curse to them. Causing flat batteries, starting problems, all kinds of mysterious problems that would never repeat themselves. Just ask HR, TonyZ and a few others as to the Power of TheDarkSide.. Just before its death it did get a Force upgrde to a SP 1917cc 55kw & 155Nm engine. With TheDarkSide in a constant fight with the rust curse it was getting lighter by the day and on one run got to 195km/h with a tail wind.. Many Ricers were given a Snot Klap at the robots by a rat baja bug with a volla motor. Even TonyZ's Angrrrr got a bloody nose from TheDarkSide and he has his excuses, which are kinda valid, but the point remains that in one review from Bugger, TheDarkSide was a classic sleeper with a surprisingly quick 1st, 2nd & 3rd..
With the writing being on the wall regarding its life expectancy a replacement was sort. Something different yet the same... Vader needed a new ride.. A new TieFighter...
A one piece fiberglas, chopped, split, lowered and widened lightweight Beetle, that aint NEVER gonna RUST!!
These are TheWhispers from TheDarkSide11:TieFighter the Dream....

No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.

We have several routers and a CNC router where I work and can supply you with the 3mm Polycarb as well as cut them to your template or drawing.

"Our Dark Lord" Please take Edmonds advice as you cannot cut polycarb or use a router with your feet.
Why do we celebrate the guy that invented the wheel??
Surely we must celebrate the guy tat invented the other three

At least use the correct account if you going to insult some one! stop besmirching Grand Slams name. Or he might put his foot up your ass

Re: Whispers from The DarkSide 11 : TieFighter
Well now a lot has happened.
Ive had a hole rethink of the body alignment challenge. And the solution is to put it off till I have lowered the front and rear, put the motor is to give it the weight at the back so the the wheels sit right and then to the alterations to the body.
So I have stripped, cleaned and painted the front beams.. (Thanks TonyZ for that flapper wheel, zipped through the sh1t with it.) And are ready for the cut to make them adjustable...
Then I honed my cylinders, which only had a bit of carbon deposits. cleaned the pistons and finished off with flatting the tops of the cylinders to get a nice seal in the heads... Looking very good...
This week I should get the block, crank, new bearings and then it must go for balancing as one of the conrods were replaces. The valves are also getting an overhaul the exhaust studs are being replaced so there goes the nice blue exhaust flame...
