My insurance will insure beetles (and probably busses) provided you give them a letter from an appraiser stating the value of the vehicle. The reason i haven't put my beetle on that insurance is because i dont know who will value my car for me....

Indwe Risk Services is the company i have my other car on and who said they could give me a full comprehensive for my beetle if it was appraised. And Mutual and Federal will do 3rd party on beetles and Puma's (so should do busses too), thats currently where my beetle is insured and where my brothers have their Puma's insured.

I am onto a company that might help... but they dragging their feet. After they told me to get my car appraised and I told the appraisers to send them the R1500 bill, they have gone all quiet.

All I want is 3rd party, not even fire & theft - just plain 3rd party, but my current insurer doesnt want to do that, and I dont want a policy here and there and everywhere....

Outsurance is def the way to go. I got a valuation done at a local beetle repair centre and then insured the bug for a specified value (R25000)

the place I found was willing to insure my car for R100 000 at a cost of R100 per month. However, 5000km/year max.
But they not classifying my car as a classic because of the modifications, so I am now waiting for them to make up their mind as to what to do.
